Orthodontic Treatment for Retainers

Retain Your Smile with Retainers

Essential Role of Retainers

After braces or other orthodontic care, retainers play a key role in keeping your teeth in their new position. As teeth naturally tend to shift back after orthodontic treatment, wearing a retainer as directed by your orthodontist is crucial.

Retainers gently apply consistent pressure on your teeth, preserving their corrected alignment. This phase helps your teeth and surrounding structures adapt to the changes from orthodontic treatment, ensuring a lasting result.

Retainer Choices for Your Smile

There are three types of retainers that may be right for you.

  • Clear plastic retainers are one of the most popular options as they are invisible, removable, and molded precisely to your teeth. They are also easily removed so they never interfere with brushing and eating.

  • Fixed retainers are made of metal wires and blend in with your mouth. Since they are fixed in place, they cannot be lost, but they do require care.

  • Hawley retainers are removable retainers that are either made from acrylic with wire or plastic. They are adjustable, durable, and easily removed for brushing or eating.

After completing your orthodontic treatment, retainers are crucial for preserving your beautiful smile and ensuring the lasting results of your journey. Choose the retainer that suits your needs and lifestyle to maintain your confident smile for years to come.
